standalone ecu system
Engine management for the Datsun’s twin turbo 1UZFE engine is being handled by a standalone Adpatronic M2000 ECU, coupled with all the supporting modules needed to monitor and control the engine properly. With the paring of the ECU, widband O2 control modules, and EGT modules all communicating via serial/CAN to the ECU, a central mounting system to house all the systems was needed to created the “brain” of the truck.
By hand measuring and modeling all the small sub systems, I designed a mounting structure that contained all the separate modules in as much of a condensed package as possible. Specific planning and routing for all the wiring was designed into the assembly, assuring there are no issues with communication or serviceability of each system.
The mounts were 3D printed using glass reinforced nylon plastic, and were designed to clamp the brain box onto an open amount of existing real estate of the interior dash bar system. All wiring for the serial and CAN communication were pre-made, with specific printed label heat shrink for identification.
