1uzfe stainless exhaust

The exhaust for the Datsun 620 build was entirely CAD derived and planned for, designing around Vibrant Performance mandrel bends and components. The bellows, v-bands, O2 sensor bungs and mounts were all integrated into the design to flow and work with the pre-defined chassis constraints. 3D printed fixtures were also designed and made in order to help accurately cut the tubing for the merge collector, and plot out and weld the main exhaust sections on a flat table.

With the jigs and CAD models in hand, all the mandrel bent tubes and straight sections were pre-defined taking all the guess work out of the system. Every tube and piece could be pre made from the CAD specifications, and had a guaranteed fit into the system once they all came together. Welding stainless isn’t something I have much experience with, but I did really enjoy the process on these parts as I back purged all sections.

Once completed, the exhaust fit under the truck exactly as intended with zero drama, a testament to the accuracy of the CAD data VS the final product.
