dashboard pdm switch center

Using a Racepak SmartWire digital PDM system for power management on the Datsun 620 build, I didn’t want to use traditional soft-touch keypads to command and control all the various power functions from the cabin. Looking for something quite a bit more haptic, I decided to design my own switch center with micro switches embedded into one-off toggles. The PDM can have 16 individual switched channels for commands with ultra low amp inputs through a CAN distribution block, which made using ultra small micro switches easy to design around for a completely unique switch system.

I designed the offset facing switch blocks with new toggles that fit inside safety shrouds, each being LED backlit by resin-printed legends that identify each switch’s function. Below the switch sets, there is a USB hub that creates quick access for programming or charging for the ECU, AIM display, digital PDM and generic 5V+ charge.

All of the switch and USB hub components were 3D printed from multiple stacking assemblies, with a mix of materials and textures to provide great contrast over the entire design. The switch blocks are all mounted though a carbon surround, created from a mold that was entirely 3D printed and body worked.
