Water to air intercooler

The water-to-air intercooler for the rear mounted twin turbo system not only needed to function properly, but was going to be a center showcase of the entire rear turbo system. Not wanting to choose a standard off the shelf system, I decided to entirely design a one-off configuration that could be uniquely its own.

The design uses sourced intercooler cores, but all other pieces surrounding it were made specific to this set. The end tanks for the air flow and water flow are a combination of machined billet components and laser cut and formed sheet aluminum. Custom die sets were also designed and laser cut to bend the specific pan-box structure of the end tanks into shape. Vibrant performance fittings and weld caps were used for water distribution, along with all of the billet HD wiggens style quick clamps for air flow.

Working with Justin Bloomer of NCC Fab, he graciously took on the task of expertly welding the entire aluminum assembly to the print specifications, and absolutely knocked it out of the park. Once welding was completed, custom 3D printed bezels to help divide and route the water lines were added to create a truly inspiring final part.
